Large wind-generated electric turbines represent renewable energy, yet smaller and more affordable turbines scaled to residential use have an equally bright future in Ohio.
Smaller turbines can work well for farmers, rural residents and rural businesses. “A small turbine goes a long way toward generating green energy and leading to more self sufficiency at a local level,” said OFU President Roger Wise.
A free, open to the public seminar entitled “An Up Close Look at Wind Turbines for Residential, Farm and Rural Business” will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 6:30PM.

Ottawa (June 14, 2009) - Large wind-generated electric turbines represent renewable energy, yet smaller and more affordable turbines scaled to residential use have an equally bright future in Ohio.
A small turbine is on site at the event location: 2191 Co. Road 13, just north of Co. Road B, southeast of Wauseon, Ohio. The seminar is sponsored by the Fulton County Farmers Union and other county chapters.
“Small towers may be an excellent way for people to take advantage of the latest technology and reduce their electric bill. The best way to find out if this will work for a specific situation will be to attend this event,” added Wise.
Speakers include Wise; Art Miller and John Carder with ALM & J Wind and Solar; Robin Weirauch with Northwest State Community College’s Local Food Network; and Larry Sausser with the Clinton Township Zoning Committee. Dr. Dan Burklo, dean of the new alternative energy program at Northwest State Community College, will also address the group.
Farmers Union is a long-time advocate of wind turbines. This is another in a series of education programs that Farmers Union has sponsored promoting renewable energy. For more information call 800.321.3671 or reach Carder at 419.335.7503.
