Who Pays You???
Your health insurance pays the hospital and doctor, but in the case of serious accidents and illnesses, such as cancer and heart conditions, the medical bills are only one factor in the financial impact on your family. Studies by the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health and the Government Accounting Office indicate that up to two thirds of the financial impact of serious illnesses and accidents are the non-medical expenses such as lost income. In many cases it is a dual loss of income, one spouse will likely remain with or accompany the affecting spouse. If a child is involved, one or both parents will also remain by their side. Other expenses, that your health insurance does not cover, can include travel expenses to specialty treatment centers, additional care giver expenses, housekeeping expenses, long distance phone calls, and babysitting expenses to mention a few.
We offer several different supplemental products through Assurant Health that pay money directly to you for these expenses. These plans pay regardless of any other insurance you may have and, by law, no other insurance can reduce benefits because you have these plans.
