Serving Family Farmers and Consumers Since 1934

The Ohio Farmers Union pursues public policy that supports the family farmer and consumers. We support and advocate on behalf of legislation which recognizes the unique market realities of family farmers. Bigger is not always better and consumers benefit from robust local farming economies which support locally grown and produced food and fiber.
Whether you are a farm family or a consumer concerned about what’s on your table, we’re sure you’ll find one of our issues in which you can get involved.

Participating Ohio Farmers Union members receive a discount on Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation rates and services when they join the Frank Gates-Avizent Workers Compensation Program. As a sponsor, OFU offers self-directed safety training materials for use with your employees. Whether or not you participate in our sponsored workers compensation program, we hope you and your employees will use the materials in our library to promote safety at your farm.

Nothing illustrates our commitment to cooperative local business practices better than your favorite farmers market. Since 1934 Ohio Farmers Union members have been seeking ways to work together with other farmers and rural residents to build sustainable local markets for their goods. The explosion of interest in organic and locally grown food has created a vibrant market scene in Ohio. No matter where you live, you are probably not far from an opportunity to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, farm fresh eggs and other healthy offerings from local farmers. When you support your local farmers market you not only get the health and culinary benefits of fresh food, you keep your money in the local economy. (more…)
